Although details of what actually caused the accident are unclear—other than he was catching a mare in a group of horses on a typically windy day—Pete was left with head lacerations, a severe concussion, and a severely broken arm—immobilized from his shoulder to his hand.
🤕 "She left me with a 'part' on the wrong side of my head," he said, good humor still intact. "If she'd been shod, it's likely my skull would have been showing."
Pete had surgery to repair the multiple fractures to his lower arm on Wednesday, March 25, and let's just say getting through airport security will take a little longer for him now. 😄
While he has already started using all our special barrel racing modalities—and some experimental ones—to speed his healing, training horses and competing—his livelihood—will be out of the question for a while.
❤️ To help ease the financial burden, we are hosted the Pete Oen Benefit Auction and promoting on Facebook.com/PeteOenBenefitAuction.
